This paper addresses the common misconception that pH is an appropriate indication of product safety, as this is often not the case. Researchers found that solutions with a pH of 3 (acidic) and 10 (basic) were not irritating to skin, demonstrating that pH alone is not enough to determine whether a product is safe to the user.
