Virox® Technologies Inc. has been awarded a 2016 Safer Choice Partner of the Year Award for Innovation by the Safer Choice/DfE (Design for the Environment) program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA). This award is aimed at bringing recognition to companies that have advanced the goal of chemical safety through exemplary participation in the Safer Choice/DfE program.
Virox® specializes in providing disinfection solutions for infection prevention and control and has succeeded in developing the first Hydrogen Peroxide-based hospital-grade disinfectant to be certified under the Design for the Environment (DfE) Antimicrobial Pesticide Pilot Project.
Partner of the Year award winners represent a wide variety of leadership organizations, such as Fortune 500 companies, small- and medium-sized businesses, and non-governmental organizations. The 2016 Safer Choice Partner of the Year Awards will be presented during a public ceremony on May 9th, 2016 at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, DC. The Safer Choice/DfE program has commended Virox® for its ongoing commitment to innovation and compliance with the Safer Choice/DfE criteria, as well as its sustainability initiatives, including Silver LEED certification of its office space, warehouse and manufacturing facility.
As a disinfectant technology platform, Accelerated Hydrogen Peroxide® (AHP®) is available for use as cleaner-disinfectants, instrument reprocessing disinfectants, hand sanitizers and certified green cleaners. The AHP® Safer Choice/DfE-approved Ready to Use formulation was the first broad-spectrum disinfectant based on hydrogen peroxide to be certified under the Safer Choice/DfE program, intended to identify Ready to Use disinfectants with the lowest toxicity concerns.

Accelerated Hydrogen Peroxide® (AHP®) is a globally patented disinfectant technology that consists of a synergistic blend of commonly used ingredients that when combined with low levels of hydrogen peroxide dramatically increase the overall germicidal potency and cleaning performance. While the AHP® technology has been available since the early 2000’s, the development of the Safer Choice/DfEcompliant formulation was a breakthrough due to the stringent requirements of the DfE Antimicrobial Pesticide Pilot Project. The formulation was over 18 months in development and 24 months in the registration process. All efficacy, toxicity and chemistry data required for the registration of the AHP®- based formulation was conducted by EPA-certified USA based labs. Further, registration of the formulation was supported by a USA-based regulatory consulting group.
